Media Tip Sheet: Arizona Senate Votes to Repeal Near-Total Abortion Ban

Lawmakers in Arizona have voted to repeal the state's 160 year old near-total abortion ban.

The legislation would allow the state’s 15-week abortion limit to remain the law. This does not include expections for rape and incest. 

The bill now heads to Governor Katie Hobbs desk who is expected to sign it.

She most recently worked on an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to protect health and uphold the Emergency Treatment and Labor Act.

Julia Strasser, is the executive director of the Jacobs Institute of Women's Health and an assistant research professor of health policy and management at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. She is an expert on reproductive health care and access to essential care including abortion.
