Davos 2015: GW Experts Available

The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting will convene next week in Davos, Switzerland. The conference runs from Jan. 21-24 and brings together financial, political and cultural figures from across the globe. The George Washington University has experts available to comment on the geopolitical and economic context of the meeting.

Esther Brimmer, J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor of International Affairs, is an expert on international organizations. Dr. Brimmer is a former assistant secretary for international organization affairs at the U.S. Department of State. She can comment on the European Union and U.S.-European relations, as well as the role international organizations play in security, conflict prevention and human rights.
 
Martha Finnemore, University Professor of Political Science and International Affairs, is an expert on international organizations. She is the author of “Who Governs the Globe?” and can discuss the implications of the meeting of world leaders as well as ethics in world politics.
 
Danny Leipziger, professor of practice of international business, is an expert on international economic policy. He can comment on international monetary and financial issues and financial crises in emerging markets.
 
Noel Maurer, associate professor of international affairs and international business, is an expert on political economies, especially in Latin America. He also specializes in examining how private actors defend their property rights under dictatorial governments or political instability. 
 
Scheherazade Rehman, is GW Deans Professorial Fellow of International Finance and professor of international affairs. Dr. Rehman is an expert on international finance, markets and banking. She is also the director of the GW European Union Research Center and can discuss the economies of the EU and the Middle East.

Susan Sell, professor of political science and international affairs, is an expert on international relations theory. She can comment on how actions taken at the meeting affect global policy and governance.
