Statement on Fulbright Hall Fire

February 14, 2016

At approximately 7:30 p.m., the fire alarm sounded in Fulbright Hall alerting DC Fire and EMS and GWPD. Upon immediate inspection, it was determined that there was a fire on the fifth floor of the building. GWPD kept the fire contained until DC Fire arrived. By 7:50 p.m., DC Fire had the scene under control and the fire was put out. The fire was contained to one room, although there may be water damage to nearby rooms. DC Fire investigators are looking into the cause of the fire and GW’s Operations team is assessing floors of the building for water damage. No injuries were reported. Students were evacuated to nearby buildings and will be allowed to reoccupy the building shortly.

Fulbright Hall is an eight-story residence hall housing approximately 225-second year students. The Division of Student Affairs is working directly with the residents of the building. Residents who find damage in their unit are asked to submit a request to FixIT (202-994-6706).
