U.S. Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey to Deliver GW’s 2016 Commencement Address on the National Mall

President of Southern Engineering and the Under-Secretary of State and Minister for Internet Safety and Security for Her Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland also to Receive Honorary Degrees

EVENT:
With the Washington Monument as a backdrop, more than 25,000 people, including approximately 6,000 undergraduate and graduate degree candidates, family members and guests, are expected to attend the George Washington University Commencement on the National Mall. 

WHO:
U.S. Senator Cory Booker will deliver the keynote address and receive an honorary degree.
GW President Steven Knapp will present honorary degrees.
Joanna Shields, under-secretary of state and minister for Internet safety and security for her majesty’s government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland will receive an honorary degree. 
Albert H. Small, philanthropist and president of Southern Engineering Corporation will receive an honorary degree. 

WHEN:
Sunday, May 15; academic procession begins at 9:30 a.m. and ceremony begins at 10 a.m. 
Press access begins: 8 a.m.

WHERE:
Event Location: The National Mall on the grounds of Washington Monument between 15 and 17th streets, NW. 
Press entrance: Media tent at corner of Constitution Avenue and 15th Street. Pick up credentials by 9:30 a.m. 
Live truck parking: Contact Maralee Csellar at csellar@gwu.edu by May 12 with requests. Parking is very limited.
