EVENT:
Bedroom Community, an Icelandic record label and music collective formed by Ben Frost, Nico Muhly and Valgeir Sigurðsson, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with its first United States tour, which makes a stop in D.C. in late March. Mr. Muhly is the most recognizable group member for American classical audiences, known for his Metropolitan Opera-commissioned work, "Two Boys.” Mr. Muhly was the youngest composer the Met has ever commissioned with this 2013 piece. He has worked to make classical music accessible and interesting to younger audiences through film scores, Broadway musicals like “The Glass Menagerie” and collaborations with pop musicians like Sufjan Stevens.

The group’s performance at the George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium will feature:
  • Ben Frost, Nico Muhly and Valgeir Sigurðsson, Bedroom Community’s founders;
  • Sam Amidon, American folk artist;
  • Nadia Sirota, contemporary classical musician and host of the “Meet the Producer” podcast;
  • Daníel Bjarnason, composer and conductor;
  • Puzzle Muteson, singer/songwriter;
