WASHINGTON (September 24, 2025)--This month Diabetes Care issued a special issue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Diabetes Prevention Program and the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study. The groundbreaking research served as the largest and longest running study on lifestyle interventions for the prevention of Type 2 diabetes. Over the years, the findings from this study have helped keep people around the world healthy.
The special issue includes new studies by researchers at the George Washington University and other institutions. The research includes new findings on retention of diabetes participants in large studies, the genetics of Type 2 diabetes and more detailed findings on how to prevent the disease with intensive lifestyle interventions.
Researchers at the George Washington University are available to discuss the new research in the special issue. To schedule an interview with an expert, please contact Kathy Fackelmann, kfackelmanngwu [dot] edu.
