Announcing the Winners of the 23rd Calvin Cafritz Awards Program

Washington, DC – The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, in partnership with the George Washington University’s Center for Excellence in Public Leadership, within the College of Professional Studies, and the DC Department of Human Resources, is pleased to announce, honor, and celebrate the winners of the 23rd Calvin Cafritz Awards!

The Calvin Cafritz Awards program is the signature event of the Foundation, recognizing outstanding individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, innovation, and impact in the Washington, DC community. Over the last 25 years, the Calvin Cafritz Awards have been presented to over 100 extraordinary individuals and 10 innovative teams who played a vital role in providing outstanding service to District residents. This year’s ceremony will celebrate five individual winners who will each receive $7,500, and one remarkable team that will receive $15,000 for their hard work and relentless commitment to the District.

“When the Cafritz Awards were established in 2000, the Foundation wanted to shine a light on the contributions of extraordinary government employees,” said Jane Cafritz, President and CEO of the Cafritz Foundation. “We seek to encourage excellence and innovation by

recognizing remarkable work and honor all who strive to make Washington, DC a wonderful

place to live and work.”

The 23rd Calvin Cafritz Awards winners are:

  • Nancy Boyd – Nurse Educator, Department of Behavioral Health
  • Lindsey DuBose – Supervisor Compliance Specialist, Metropolitan Police Department
  • Alvin Layne – Data Analyst, Office of the Inspector General/Medicaid Fraud Control Unit
  • Karissa Minnich – Civic Design Manager, Office of the City Administrator
  • Anthony Snead – Recreation Specialist, Department of Parks and Recreation

The 23rd Calvin Cafritz Team Awards winner is:

  • Office of Program Review, Monitoring & Investigations/Stolen Benefits – Department of Human Services
    • Christa Phillips – Chief Accountability Officer
    • Paul Bowman – Supervisory Investigator
    • Ainslie MacLeod – Supervisory Program Monitor
    • Ebony Davis – Compliance & Monitoring Officer
