The George Washington University Board of Trustees Approves Tuition Rates for 2017-18

February 10, 2017

WASHINGTON (Feb. 10, 2017)—For the 10th year in a row, the George Washington University Board of Trustees voted on Friday to continue to contain the cost of attendance, guaranteeing no tuition increase for returning undergraduate students and limiting increases for incoming undergraduate students to approximately 3 percent. The board also decided to maintain the university’s fixed tuition policy, which began in 2005.

With fixed tuition, returning undergraduates (sophomores, juniors, seniors and fifth-year undergraduates) will have no increase in their tuition for the 2017-18 academic year. The tuition for incoming undergraduate students in fall 2017 will be locked in at $53,435 annually for up to five years, as long as they remain in good academic standing. Underscoring the university’s commitment to containing costs, the percent increase compared to last year is 3 percent for tuition and fees and approximately 3.3 percent for the total cost of attendance (tuition, fees, room and board), depending on a student’s housing selection.  The Board also approved graduate tuition rates, which vary by program.  Graduate tuition rates for the 2017-18 academic year will be posted online in March.
