WASHINGTON (JULY 21, 2025) — The Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) at the George Washington University is pleased to welcome Dr. Renata Duda as a visiting scholar for the Summer 2025 term.

An Associate Professor at the Institute of International and Security Studies at the University of Wroclaw in Poland, Dr. Duda brings deep expertise in comparative politics, U.S. political institutions, and European governance systems to her work at GSPM. Her residency will extend through September.

During her time at GW, she will be collaborating with Dr. Todd Belt, Director of the Political Management program, on a project that explores county-level electoral behavior in presidential elections over time.

“Dr. Duda’s cross-continental perspective and deep knowledge of both American and European political systems bring a unique and valuable dimension to our academic community,” said Dr. Belt. “We are excited to work with her and support the advancement of her important research that explores our growing partisan divide in the United States. Dr. Duda will be a fantastic resource for our faculty and students.”

She holds both a Ph.D. and Habilitation in Political Science and is the author of "Multi-Level Governance – MLG: The New Way of Governance in the European Union." Most recently, she co-authored "The Crossroads Election: European Perspectives on the 2022 Midterm Elections in the United States" (Routledge, 2024).

Her scholarship includes numerous publications on European and American politics, and she currently leads two major research initiatives—one on U.S. presidential elections and another on EU-Africa relations.

GSPM is proud to host international scholars whose work enriches its academic community and supports its mission to prepare the next generation of political professionals.
