GW experts available for interviews
WASHINGTON (February 5, 2026) - The 2026 Winter Olympics first sport kicked off early in advance of the opening ceremony tomorrow. This year’s winter games take place from February 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

Lisa Delpy Neirotti will be leading 28 students to Milan Feb 5-17 where they will be volunteering for the Milan Cortina Olympic organizing committee as well as conducting research on spectator motivation, behavior, and satisfaction. Professor Neirotti has studied the business and ethics of global sport for more than 30 years, consulting with major events including the Olympics and World Cup. She also directs the GW Green Sports Scorecard and serves on the faculty of the International Olympic Committee’s executive master’s program.
Athletic Performance & Sports Injuries
Mary Barron is an associate professor of exercise and nutrition sciences at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health and is an expert on sport-related injuries.
Loretta DiPietro is a professor of exercise and nutrition sciences at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health. She can talk about how athletes prepare their bodies for the Olympics.
Todd Miller is an associate professor of exercise and nutrition sciences at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health and the former director of the GW Weight Management and Human Performance Lab.
Matthew Barberio is an assistant professor in the department of exercise and nutrition sciences at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health and the Interim Vice Chair for Academics.
Kyle Levers is an assistant professor in the department of exercise and nutrition sciences and serves as the director of the Metabolism and Exercise Testing Research Services and Academic Laboratories at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health.
Mental Health
Lorenzo Norris is an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and chief wellness officer at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He can discuss the mental stress athletes endure especially under the spotlight during the Olympics.
Fallon Goodman is an assistant professor of clinical/community psychology. Goodman's research examines how people foster social connection and resilience to adversity. Her work explores daily patterns of coping and barriers to social connection (e.g., social anxiety; rejection), with a focus on people who are vulnerable to social stress.
