WASHINGTON (March 24, 2025)- Canada’s newly-elected Prime Minister, Mark Carney, has called for a general election on April 28, 2025. The quick turnaround announcement of the election was expected as Mr. Carney’s liberal party was likely to fall to a no-confidence vote as early as Monday.
As America’s closest ally and trading partner, Mr. Carney said of Canada “We are facing the most significant crisis of our lifetimes because of President Trump’s unjustified trade actions and his threats to our sovereignty.”
