The CDC recently sent out an alert warning of a listeria outbreak tied to cheese and yogurt. Two people have died and 23 others have been hospitalized in a years-long outbreak of listeria illness that’s finally been traced to one company’s cheeses, yogurts and other daily products.
All of the dairy products, sold nationwide and marketed by Rizo-López Foods, are now under recall. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Rizo-López Foods sells queso fresco, cotija cheese, yogurts and other dairy products under a myriad of brand names.
Barbara Kowalcyk, associate professor and director of Food Policy Institute is available to provide information on listeria and how to stay safe if you are hosting a Super Bowl party and cheese or yogurt dips are on the menu.
