WASHINGTON (July 8, 2026) – China is considering limiting foreign access to their most advanced AI models. Restrictions could impact companies around the world that use China's free AI models as a cheaper alternative to U.S. technology.
Similar to the U.S., Beijing is becoming more concerned about national security and has already restricted access to advanced AI models such as Claude over security concerns. Chinese officials also warn that the technology could be used for cyberattacks, surveillance, or military purposes.
