WASHINGTON (April 22, 2026) – The president of China, Xi Jinping, met with Daniel Chapo, the president of Mozambique, to discuss the spillover effects of the Middle East conflict. According to President Xi, “The spillover effects of the Middle East conflict are affecting African countries, and China is willing to work with local (countries) to respond together, promote peace together, and pursue development together.” During the meeting, Xi also urged African nations and China to call for a ceasefire and encouraged the international community to do the same.
