Media Tip Sheet: Close Call at Reagan National with Delta Plane and Air Force Jet

March 31, 2025

The FAA is investigating what was a close call at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Friday afternoon.

A triggered warning was issued from air traffic controllers between a Delta passenger plane and an Air Force Jet. Air traffic controllers issued "corrective instructions" to both aircrafts.

The Delta flight, taking off from Reagan National, was bound for Minneapolis. The Air Force jet was headed to Arlington National Cemetery for a flyover.

This comes two months after the deadly collision with an American Airlines flight and an Army helicopter.

The George Washington University has experts available who can provide insight on this close call and ways to manage your anxiety when flying. If you would like to schedule an interview, please contact Katelyn Deckelbaum, [email protected].
