WASHINGTON (December 14, 2023) - The European Union will convene for the last time in 2023 this week in Brussels, Belgium. Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelenskyy’s joined via video chat and urged the 27 EU nations to support Ukraine’s relationship with Europe.

Francesca Bignami, Leroy Sorenson Merrifield Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School is an expert in the law of the European Union, along with comparative privacy law and comparative administrative law. Her research focuses on data privacy in transatlantic perspective, rule-making, rights and accountability in global governance, and the convergence of European regulatory systems. She has served in a variety of positions and is an elected titular member of the International Academy of Comparative Law.

 

International Affairs

Erwan Lagadec is an associate research professor at GW’s Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, where he leads the GW Elliott School of International Affairs programs on EU and NATO affairs. He is also the Director of IERES' European Union "Jean-Monnet" Center of Excellence; and he leads a Memorandum of Understanding between the Elliott School and NATO's Allied Command Transformation. Lagadec’s areas of expertise include the EU, NATO, development aid, and crisis management.
