Media Tip Sheet: Georgia Senate Runoff Election

December 5, 2022

Georgia voters will make their final choice between the reverend and the running back on Tuesday. Democratic incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker square off in the state’s U.S. Senate runoff election after neither candidate could garner a majority of the votes in November. Democrats are looking to add a bit of cushion to their minuscule Senate majority, while Republicans are hoping to maintain a 50-50 Senate that has frustrated some of the topline items in President Biden’s agenda.

Casey Burgat, assistant professor and director of the Legislative Affairs program in the GW Graduate School of Political Management, and GW political science associate professor Chris Warshaw are available to analyze the Georgia Senate runoff before, during, and after the ballots are cast. They can discuss the key issues and controversies defining this election, break down the results, and discuss the impact Tuesday’s vote will have on the Senate.
