A new report from GLAAD painted a dim portrait of the social media environment for LGBTQ users. The advocacy group slapped failing grades on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok for their lackluster moderation policies and enforcement against anti-LGBTQ content. The vast majority of surveyed LGBTQ people felt social media companies do not do enough to prevent online abuse and disinformation. The report also noted that 40% of LGBTQ adults and about half of transgender and nonbinary people do not feel safe on social media.
