WASHINGTON (Feb. 10, 2023)— The FBI instigated a voluntary search of former Vice President Mike Pence’s Indiana home on Friday. Pence’s aide reportedly gave approval for the search to the Justice Department. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department has said what they are searching for, but the presumption is that this is related to the classified documents previously found by Pence’s lawyer in the same location. The search follows a reported subpoena issued to Pence by the special counsel investigating former President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to remain in office after the 2020 election.

“The FBI is engaging in a consensual search of former VP Mike Pence’s home for #ClassifiedDocuments. This is consistent with what he requested in his January 18 letter to National Archives.”
