On Monday, lawyers for former president Donald Trump filed court papers arguing against any pause in U.S. District Court Judge Aileen M. Cannon’s ruling for a special master to review documents found at Mar-a-Lago last month. Trump’s lawyers were responding to the Justice Department’s request to temporarily suspend her ruling to have a special master review all 11,000 documents found on the property, in which she also blocked the FBI from using any of the documents their investigation until the review was completed. In his filing, Trump minimized any national security concerns and argued the government “has not proven” that the materials marked classified are still classified.
