WASHINGTON (June 4, 2026) – Israel and Lebanon have agreed to renew their ceasefire agreement, and will continue to work towards a comprehensive peace deal. However, Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, has rejected this plan and stated that its resistance against Israel will continue.
Since Thursday, Israel has been conducting strikes in southern Lebanon. Defence Minister Israel Katz said that Israeli forces would not be withdrawing from the area or halting operations.
The two countries' representatives will meet again on June 22 for more negotiations.
