Media Tip Sheet: Inflation Climbs to 4.2%

June 10, 2026

WASHINGTON (June 10, 2026) – U.S. inflation rose to 4.2% in May, which marks its highest level in more than three years, according to new data released Wednesday. The increase is expected to draw attention to the Federal Reserve's decisions on interest rates as well as renew concerns about the impact of rising prices on consumers and markets.

Rodney Lake, associate professor of finance at the George Washington University School of Business, is available to discuss what the latest inflation data tells us about the state of the U.S. economy and how this report may influence future Federal Reserve policy decisions.
