Media Tip Sheet: Kansas Governor Vetoes Ban on Gender-Affirming Care

April 22, 2024

Kansas Governor, Laura Kelly vetoed a ban on gender-affirming medical care for youth in the state. According to Governor Kelly, the bill was an unwarranted attack on those under the age of 18.

The bill restricts puberty blockers which are used to delay the development of gendered characteristics, hormone therapy, surgeries and restricts state employees or state facilities from supporting a minor’s transition.
