Media Tip Sheet: Marijuana Set To Be Reclassified As Lower Risk Drug

May 1, 2024

The U.S. Drug Administration is working to reclassify marijuana as a less dangerous drug following the recommendation to loosen restrictions from Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The reclassification would recognize the medical use of marijuana would have less potential for abuse than other dangerous drugs in our country.

This measure being reviewed by the White House’s Office of Management and Budget would not allow for marijuana to be legalized at the federal level.
