Media Tip Sheet: Musk’s xAI Sues Apple and OpenAI, alleging monopolies

WASHINGTON (August 26, 2025) – Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI sued Apple and OpenAI on Monday, alleging the two companies are monopolists and disrupting competition for other AI companies.

Apple and OpenAI’s partnership, announced in June 2024, “Apple joined the AI arms race, saying it plans to bring a more personalized version of artificial intelligence to its 2.2 billion device users.”
