WASHINGTON (May 12, 2026) – OpenAI is granting the European Union (EU) access to preview its new model, GPT-5.5-Cyber. European partners such as businesses, governments, and cybersecurity authorities like the EU AI Office will be able to access this system. In contrast, Anthropic’s Mythos was released a month ago, but hasn't granted the EU preview access due to fear of potential cyberattacks.
Thomas Regnier, a spokesperson for the European Commission, confirmed that an exchange had taken place between OpenAI and the EU, with further discussions planned this week regarding access to the model.
