Media Tip Sheet: Partial Government Shutdown Ends

February 4, 2026

WASHINGTON (February 2, 2026) – The partial government shutdown officially ends today as the House passes a set of spending bills. The deal allows 10 days for Republicans and Democrats to agree on policy changes regarding how Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conduct immigration raids. If not, the Department of Homeland Security will shut down on February 14th. However, ICE immigration efforts can continue under the Republican tax and spending law passed last year.
