Professor Dallek is a political historian whose intellectual interests include the intersection of social crises and political transformation, the evolution of the modern conservative movement, and liberalism and its critics. Professor Dallek’s most recent book, Birchers: How the John Birch Society Radicalized the American Right, was published by the Hachette Book Group in March 2023. It tells the story of the most influential far-right grassroots movement of the 1960s, exploring how an extremist organization spread conspiracy theories in American culture and used these theories to mobilize activists to get active in the struggle for power.
