Media Tip Sheet: Senate Expected to Vote on Major Tax and Immigration Bill

WASHINGTON (June 30, 2025) – The Senate is working to vote on several legislation that includes altering spending for border security, cuts to Medicaid, and new tax breaks by the 4th of July. If the bill becomes law, it is expected to reshape both the U.S economy and federal government.

Casey Burgat is an associate professor at the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management. Professor Burgat is the director of the Legislative Affairs Program at the Graduate School of Political Management. Burgat was also a Senior Governance Fellow at the R Street Institute where his research focused on issues of congressional capacity and reform.

Peter Loge is an associate professor at the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs. Professor Loge has over 30 years of experience in politics and communications. He currently leads the Project on Ethics in Political Communication at the School of Media and Public Affairs.
