Media Tip Sheet on Sudan Conflict: Sudan's army recaptures state broadcasting headquarters

March 13, 2024

Soldiers from Sudan's army have recaptured the headquarters of the state broadcaster. According to the BBC, it’s a “symbolic breakthrough” for the army in its 11-month civil war with the Rapid Support Forces. Eight million people have fled their homes because of the conflict in Sudan and there are growing concerns of hunger. Last week, the U.N. Security Council called for a truce to halt hostilities during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and allow aid to get to 25 million people in need of food and other assistance.
