WASHINGTON (April 1, 2026) – The Supreme Court will hear arguments over President Trump’s efforts to limit birthright citizenship. This rule grants citizenship to all born in the United States, regardless of whether their parents were citizens. The Court will decide whether this rule is constitutional based on the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment.
For expert insight on this, consider Tania N. Valdez. Valdez, a law professor and lawyer, researches the inadequacies of protections for noncitizens under current immigration enforcement. Her scholarship has been published in the Notre Dame Law Review, the Washington University Law Review, the Boston College Law Review, and others.
