Media Tip Sheet: Taiwan's Presidential Inauguration

WASHINGTON (May 20, 2024) – Lai Ching-te was inaugurated as Taiwan’s President on Monday. After being elected in January, Lai Ching-te addressed his country and called on China to stop its military and political threats. Reuters reported that, “peace was the only choice and that Beijing had to respect the choice of the Taiwanese people.”
