The World Health Organization has raised concerns after eight states are reporting bird flu cattle outbreaks. WHO is urging US officials to monitor the situation closely as it can be transmitted in different ways.

WHO, which also confirmed the virus has been found in raw milk, says store bought milk is safe to drink and the virus should not make its way into the food supply chain.

There is no evidence bird flu can spread from person to person but there is a rare chance that a human who's been in regular close contact with infected animals could get the virus.

The CDC recently confirmed at least two people tested positive for Bird Flu.

The George Washington University has experts available to discuss the warning from WHO and how it could impact food safety. To schedule an interview with an expert, please contact GW Media Relations at [email protected].
