July is recognized as UV Safety Awareness Month to highlight the dangers of ultraviolet radiation and promote sun safety practices.
The month-long observance emphasizes the importance of protecting skin and eyes from harmful UV rays, especially during the summer months when sun exposure is at its peak.
Excessive exposure to UV radiation from the sun can lead to sunburn, premature aging and skin cancer, including melanoma, the deadliest form.
The George Washington University has experts available who can offer insight on protecting your skin from sun rays. If you would like to schedule an interview, please contact Katelyn Deckelbaum, katelyn [dot] deckelbaumgwu [dot] edu (katelyn[dot]deckelbaum[at]gwu[dot]edu).
