The American Academy of Pediatrics has issued its own updated vaccine schedule—marking a rare break from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In its new guidance, the AAP explicitly recommends Covid-19 vaccination for infants and children as young as 6 months—departing from the CDC’s “shared decision-making” approach under its newly restructured advisory committee. The move comes after Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dismissed the previous Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices members and replaced them with individuals criticized for spreading vaccine misinformation.
