Europe has officially banned trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide (TPO), a chemical used in some gel nail polishes over health concerns.
TPO which helps the polish set under UV light was banned over reproductive toxicity concerns identified in animal studies.
TPO remains legal in the United States.
The George Washington University has experts available who can discuss the TPO chemical, the potential health risks and if you can still get gel manicures.
