WASHINGTON (October 24, 2025) – The FBI’s “Operation Nothing But Bet” exposed insider sports betting and game-rigging within the NBA which prompted questions about how legalized gambling has altered the integrity and governance of professional sports.
Lisa Delpy Neirotti, director of the sport management program at the George Washington University School of Business, can speak to this issue. She can discuss how insider betting threatens public trust in fair competition, what this case means for the future of athlete accountability, and why stricter monitoring and education programs for players and staff are essential to maintaining the integrity of the game.
Professor Neirotti has studied the business and ethics of global sport for more than 30 years, consulting with major events including the Olympics and World Cup. She also directs the GW Green Sports Scorecard and serves on the faculty of the International Olympic Committee’s executive master’s program.
