Media Tip Sheet: Nationwide ByHeart Baby Formula Recall Raises Urgent Safety Concerns for Parents

November 12, 2025

A major safety alert for new parents: ByHeart has recalled all of its baby formula nationwide amid a federal investigation into a growing infant botulism outbreak.

The FDA and CDC are investigating 15 hospitalized infants across 12 states who were exposed to ByHeart’s “Whole Nutrition” formula — and early tests show contamination with Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria that causes botulism.

George Washington University experts are available to discuss what parents should know. If you would like to schedule an interview, please contact Katelyn Deckelbaum, katelyn [dot] deckelbaumatgwu [dot] edu (katelyn[dot]deckelbaum[at]gwu[dot]edu).
