WASHINGTON (January 15, 2025) – The Supreme Court seems likely to uphold current laws barring transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports.
The oral arguments in Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. addressed state laws in Idaho and West Virginia that prohibit transgender women from competing on women’s sports teams.
For more context on the matter, please consider Naomi Schoenbaum, William Wallace Kirkpatrick Dean’s Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School. Schoenbaum is an expert on gender and the law, antidiscrimination law, and employment law.
