GW Corcoran’s Student Thesis Exhibition ‘NEXT’ Showcases New Generation of Contemporary Artists

‘NEXT’ Includes Student Exploration of the Black Body, the Intersection of Deaf Culture and Football, the Role of Virtual Reality in Mental Health, Community-Centered Design to Preserve Syrian Artifacts, Among Other Themes

EVENT:
The GW Corcoran School of the Arts and Design will host a press preview of “NEXT,” the student thesis exhibition. The exhibition features artwork showcasing the thesis work of the school’s undergraduate and graduate students. For the first time this year, the exhibition will also feature performances by dance and music students as well as a Museum Studies symposium and Art History colloquium. The exhibition has helped many artists get their start and introduces the community to fresh perspectives in contemporary art. The exhibition includes art installations, photographs, documentary video, paintings and graphic design projects. Media will have the opportunity to view and photograph students’ work, interview selected students about their projects and tour the exhibition before it opens to the public.

The exhibition will include student explorations of topics including the black body, the intersection of deaf culture and football, the role of virtual reality in mental health and community-centered design for a museum exhibition to feature and preserve Syrian artifacts.
