WASHINGTON (August 13, 2026) – A D.C. area high school student sought out a research opportunity at GW that grew into a collaboration with a Ph.D. candidate and, later, groundbreaking research presented at a leading computer vision conference.
Allison Andreyev, a local high school student, and GW Ph.D. candidate Rongqian Chen are developing technology to make immersive systems like augmented and virtual reality safer. Their research was recently presented at CVPR, a premier conference in the field.
The story offers a look at how GW gives students opportunities to participate in advanced research alongside graduate students and faculty.
Chen and Andreyev’s efforts are led by professor and IEEE Fellow Tian Lan. To arrange an interview or learn more, please contact Claire Sabin at claire [dot] sabin
