Media Tip Sheet: GW Experts Available to Discuss FDA Authorizing COVID Booster Shot for Older Adults

April 20, 2023

WASHINGTON (April 20, 2023)— The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced people ages 65 and older, and those with compromised immune systems, will be allowed to receive an additional COVID-19 vaccine booster shot. Per the FDA’s recommendation, people 65 and older should only get another shot if at least four months have elapsed since their most recent booster. For those who are immunocompromised, the FDA suggests a two month interval. The new booster guidance was part of a series of changes the FDA announced to simplify access and to encourage future vaccination.

George Washington University has experts available to comment on this topic. To interview one of the GW experts please contact Rachel Larris at rlarrisatgwu [dot] edu (rlarris[at]gwu[dot]edu).
