A group of liberal senators, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, are raising concerns about how the Department of Education and federal student loan providers have handled the return of student loan payments. In a letter to the DOE, questions were raised regarding implementation errors being experienced by struggling borrowers and how such errors could impact borrowers credit scores.

If you’re interested in commentary, insights or analysis on concerns being raised regarding student loan repayments, please consider Stephanie Cellini, a professor of public policy and economics in the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration at The George Washington University. Her research focuses on higher education policy and the for-profit sector specifically. Recent papers examine the labor market outcomes of for-profit college students and the impact of federal student aid on tuition.
