EVENT:

How can we disagree better? It’s one of the questions that The Sesno Series at the George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs (SMPA) plans to tackle with Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox (R) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

Governor Cox, current chair of the National Governors Association, launched the Disagree Better campaign to bring healthy conflict—the kind that leads to solutions rather than endless bickering—back to politics and the public square. Can it be done? What incentives do politicians and the media have to change their ways? Is it too late?

Alongside Frank Sesno, SMPA professor and a former CNN reporter, anchor and Washington Bureau Chief, journalists Michel Martin and Jonah Goldberg will also join the conversation. Additionally, six GW students will share their take on civil discourse and how we can disagree better in this political climate.

The second in the esteemed Sesno Series will air on Sirius/XM radio, in association with GW's College of Professional Studies and the Bipartisan Policy Center.

  • Frank Sesno, Moderator & Director of Strategic Initiatives at SMPA
  • Spencer J. Cox, Utah Governor & Chair of the National Governors Association
