University Statement on Title IX Complaint

August 11, 2017

The university has been notified by the Department of Education that an individual has filed a Title IX complaint against the university with the Office for Civil Rights (OCR). While the university was not provided with any further information about the complaint, it takes any report of sexual misconduct very seriously. Accordingly, the university will cooperate fully with OCR as it conducts its inquiry into the complaint.

As we underscored in a message to our community in April, the university is committed to reviewing our Title IX procedures and continuing the dialogue initiated by our students about our processes. Earlier this summer the university initiated a review of its Title IX procedures with the law firm Cozen O’Connor as part of an effort to ensure that our processes continue to meet the challenge of eliminating and preventing discrimination on the basis of sex on our campuses and in the university’s programs and activities. We will not comment on the specifics of any one case.
