WASHINGTON (October 18, 2023) — The House is set for a second speakership vote following GOP pick, Rep. Jim Jordan, failing to secure enough votes. As opposition towards Jordan’s candidacy grows, some lawmakers are proposing expanding the power of Rep. Patrick McHenry as temporary speaker to solve the GOP impasse.
